Potteric Carr

This site was established in 1968; 140ha, including railways with boundary; managed by the Y.W.T.; located 3km south of Doncaster.

The large areas of open water and redfen form the most immediate attraction of the reserve. In winter large numbers of the wildfowl collect here, often with smaller numbers of more unusual birds such as Pintail, Goldeneye, Scaup or Goosander.

The reed beds provide protection fro breeding birds, and many of the commoner wildfowl, together with Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Water Rail and Reed Warbler, regularly nest here.
